in the 60s & 70s yugoslavian president josep tito commissioned the CONSTRUCTION of dozens of world war 2 monuments to stand all throughout his religiously & ethnically diverse state. bold & futuristic in their design, the monuments stood as clear symbols of tito's utopian ambition for a united & strong yugoslavia. today, the monuments stand within newly drawn borders. a series of bitter wars shattering the spirit of yugoslavian unity which the monuments, still to this day, stubbornly embody.
