Set across the former Yugoslavia, 'A Second World' explores the consequences and symbolic legacy of a nation's collapse. The film places the story of Ljuba Stojanovic, an elderly Serbian man who communicates with a communist-utopian alien world, in parallel with a series of epic & beautiful, yet largely abandoned Yugoslavian war monuments. Taken together, the two stories intertwine the personal with the national to expose the vivid sense of loss, disillusionment & nostalgia that permeates the Balkans and the people who live there.
